Environmental Responsibility at Europlaz
Taking responsibility for our environmental impact.
Our Commitment to a Healthier Planet
Environmental sustainability is a core principle at Europlaz. As a medical device manufacturer, we recognise that our choices directly impact the planet and the communities we serve. With the ongoing challenges of climate change and resource depletion, we are committed to reducing our environmental footprint through thoughtful, science-driven action.
This is why we put sustainability at the core of our business strategy, ensuring that every decision we make contributes to a healthier planet. Through innovation, collaboration, and transparency, we aim to lead by example within both the plastics and medical device industries without compromising on quality or performance.

Progress so Far
At Europlaz we are taking significant steps to reduce our carbon footprint and enhance energy efficiency across our operations. Through targeted investments in renewable energy and increasing our energy efficiency, we are making tangible progress towards a more sustainable future.

Sustainability Committee
To ensure we are continuously advancing our environmental initiatives, in 2024 Europlaz set up its first Sustainability committee. The committee brings together members from across different departments, allowing us to explore the impact of sustainability at every level of our operations.
Over the last two quarters, the committee has focused on waste reduction initiatives. By leveraging cross functional expertise, we have been able to increase recycling by 20%. The committee have also set up a onsite food composting programme which has helped reduce our general waste production and helped produce nutrient rich compost.
ISO 14001 Certification
Achieving ISO 14001 certification marks a significant milestone in our sustainability journey. This internationally recognised standard affirms that our Environmental Management System (EMS) meets stringent benchmarks for continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
This not only strengthens our environmental performance but also benefits our customers and stakeholders by improving operational efficiency and risk management.

Future Ambitions
Our ultimate goal is to achieve Net Zero by 2045, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change. This will be achieved through a combination of emission reductions, carbon offsetting and sustainable innovation across our supply chain and manufacturing processes. While 2045 is our ultimate target we have set key intermediate goals to track our progress and drive meaningful change along the way.

Product Sustainability
We recognise that the nature of medical devices often necessitates single-use products to ensure patient safety, sterility, and optimal medical outcomes. While this presents inherent challenges in terms of waste and environmental impact, we firmly believe that this does not exempt us from taking responsibility for minimising our footprint wherever possible. Sustainability remains a core priority in our manufacturing processes, and we are committed to identifying and implementing improvements that reduce waste, enhance efficiency, and drive long-term environmental benefits.
Europlaz is committed to leading the way in developing sustainable medical devices by exploring innovative materials such as biopolymers that offer a lower carbon footprint. We actively invest in research and innovation, collaborate closely with material scientists and industry partners, and continuously evaluate the environmental performance of materials and manufacturing processes. Through these efforts, we aim to drive meaningful change across the healthcare sector while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Product Carbon Footprinting
One of our key initiatives in this area has been the completion of our first product carbon footprint assessment for our TIVA product line.
This assessment allows us to quantify the carbon emissions associated with every stage of the product’s lifecycle, from raw material sourcing and manufacturing to packaging, distribution, and disposal.
We are currently in the process of having this footprint independently verified, ensuring accuracy and transparency in our reporting.
We aim to extend carbon foot printing across more product lines, using these insights to refine our manufacturing processes, reduce waste, and drive meaningful environmental improvements — all while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
