Europlaz Invests in 3 new Plastic Injection Moulding Machines

As a leader in the medical device manufacturing industry, we are proud to announce our continued commitment to sustainability and quality with the acquisition of three state-of-the-art all-electric IntElect plastic injection moulding machines from Sumitomo (SHI) Demag.

This investment not only showcases Europlaz’s dedication to environmental responsibility but also enhances our capability to deliver top-quality medical device components to our clients with increased capacity and versatility for company-wide growth.

With over 40 years of expertise in design, engineering, and manufacturing for the medical device sector, our team has consistently demonstrated its ability to adapt and innovate. The addition of these high-performance, flexible, and energy-efficient plastic injection moulding machines aligns with the company’s Quality In; Quality Out ethos and its strategy for equipment standardisation across its operations. Our teams are excited to work with the new machines to create new product lines and we couldn’t be more excited about the benefit this investment will bring.

The IntElect Plastic Injection Moulding Machines From Sumitomo (SHI) Demag

The new machines, celebrated for their different clamp forces and advanced features such as high-temperature demoulding robots and precision moulding capabilities, signify a major step forward in Europlaz’s manufacturing capabilities.

“Our facility is now 60 per cent all-electric, underscoring our commitment to not just quality and productivity, but also to sustainable manufacturing practices.” – Ian Goodacre, Europlaz Technical Director

These all-electric IntElect machines enable Europlaz to increase plastic injection moulding production capacity and introduce new product streams, maintaining the company’s versatility in the manufacture and assembly of class I and II medical device components.

With unique features designed to maximise efficiency and output, such as activeFlowBalance and activeLock, Europlaz can ensure the highest quality in tight-tolerance medical device applications.

Working With Sumitomo (SHI) Demag

Europlaz’s selection of the Sumitomo (SHI) Demag IntElect series is a testament to our pursuit of reliability, energy efficiency, and sustainability.

These machines will help us build on our green credentials by offering all-electric systems that can be optimised to fit our existing workspace. Adding two 75t machines and a 100t machine improves our capacity while the smaller footprint of these machines means we can better optimise our current space. These factors along with varying shot capacity and clamp flexibility mean “[between] these three machines we can essentially mould components of any shot weight, using any tool, from the widest variety of medical-grade polymers”.

As we continue to expand our capabilities and embrace innovative solutions, we remain dedicated to meeting the evolving needs of the medical device industry. This latest investment reflects the company’s commitment to providing comprehensive solutions throughout the product lifecycle, from concept design through manufacturing to after-market services.

With this new investment, Europlaz is set to further enhance our operational efficiency, innovation and accuracy, leading to greater customer satisfaction and success in the highly competitive medical device market.
