We recently commissioned an energy survey of our Southminster site by Tangram Technology, to ensure the processes and initiatives that we are adopting are helping to reduce the environmental impact of plastic manufacturing by examining Europlaz’s whole design and manufacturing processes.
At Europlaz we have a made a conscious decision to work towards a sustainable future and have successfully implemented numerous ideas and processes to help reduce our carbon footprint.
We are therefore delighted to report that the energy survey highlighted: “The technical aspects of the site are really excellent and there are no concerns whatsoever. In some areas, the site is at the leading edge of energy management.
What’s more it reported that: “Energy management is well established at the site and the management control is very good. The site is so good that there are not many specific projects for the site to complete. The staff are very enthusiastic, very competent and technically very good. Given the quality of the technical resources, it is predicted that the site will make rapid progress implementing the survey recommendations.
The report was produced by Dr Robin Kent from Tangram Technology who has been involved with plastics processing since 1971. His publications include over 500 technical and management articles and papers on plastics and 10 books on plastics processing. He regularly lectures on cost and energy management in plastics processing and materials technology throughout the world. In 2012 Dr Kent was awarded the Plastics Awards 2010 ‘Personal Contribution’ award for his work as ‘a champion of energy efficiency and for helping numerous processors to make savings through better energy use’.
Dr Kent comments: “I had the pleasure of doing a energy audit of Europlaz in November 2022 to check their energy performance and to recommend potential improvement projects. The technical aspects of the site are really excellent and improving. In some areas, particularly in weekend shut-down, the site is at the leading edge of energy management and can serve as an example to many other sites around the world.”

Now more than ever, we believe it is vital that every business, especially those in the manufacturing industry, commits to becoming greener. At Europlaz, we will be striving to continue our efforts to reduce our environmental impact in 2023 and follow the road to a sustainable future.
