Farleigh Hospice: Our Charity of the Year

We are delighted to announce that our chosen charity to support for the next 12 months is Farleigh Hospice.

Each year at Europlaz we support a local charity – it is our way of giving back. Last year we supported Essex & Herts Air Ambulance.

About Farleigh Hospice

Farleigh Hospice is a registered charity (no. 284670) which provides hospice care to people affected by life-limiting illnesses across mid Essex. Since being established in 1982, the hospice and their team of healthcare professionals has grown and evolved to meet the changing needs of the community they serve.

How we decide which charity to support

The charity we decide to support is chosen by our staff members, through a vote. All team members are asked to research several local charities and decide which charity they would like to support giving a detailed reason why. The chosen charities are then put forward for a companywide vote.

Why Farleigh Hospice?

Farleigh Hospice was the outright winner and we received some amazing reasons as to why we should support this charity. Some of our staff have had personal experiences of using the services of a hospice and staff wanted to help individuals and families during a difficult time. It’s a way of giving something back.

Europlaz believes it is so important for families to be able to get the support they need, particularly in such difficult circumstances. We are so thrilled to be supporting a charity that means so much to many of our staff members.

As a medical device manufacturer, we also feel there is great a synergy between what we do and hospice care, so we are delighted that our team voted for Farleigh Hospice for us to support in 2021.

Michelle Martin, corporate fundraiser at Farleigh Hospice said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone at Europlaz for voting for Farleigh Hospice to be the charity of the year. We look forward to seeing what fundraising activities they undertake for us. Every penny raised will go towards helping Farleigh Hospice provide care and support for people in the mid Essex community affected by life-limiting illness and bereavement, free of charge.”

Who Farleigh Hospice helps

The hospice provide care for any illness that is considered life-limiting (including cancer, neurological diseases, and chronic heart, lung, and renal diseases), both in their Inpatient Unit and in their patient’s home environments.

They also provide support for families and carers, and for people who have been bereaved. Their bereavement support is available to anyone in mid Essex, even if their bereavement is not connected to the hospice.

All the services the hospice provides are available to the people of mid Essex, completely free of charge. With approximately 44% of their yearly running costs being funded by the local NHS, they rely on the support and goodwill of the local mid Essex community to contribute to the over £16,500 it costs to provide their services each day.
