Europlaz took control of the freehold of the additional 18,000 square foot building within its existing industrial estate as its expansion plans continue. The extra space will be used to double capacity for quality, technical injection moulding and cleanroom assembly.
Expansion plans
Following investment in machinery and cleanrooms over the past two years Europlaz has seen a surge in new business won as well as the extension of existing contracts. Europlaz will keep its current site and cleanrooms but its expansion plans add extra production, cleanroom and warehouse capacity. The additional buildings also offer an opportunity for the Europlaz management team to work in closer proximity, easing the impending growth and change challenges.
The company’s expansion will offer a boost to the local community with the creation of jobs and adding life to an area previously used predominately for storage.
Facilities at Europlaz
Europlaz occupies 60,000 sq ft and has state of the art, cleanroom manufacturing facilities covering over 9,500 sq ft. We have seven cleanrooms which are certified to ISO 14644-1 Class 7 and are specifically designed for processing class I and class II medical devices.
Injection moulding of medical grade polymers and dedicated assembly and packaging areas are all controlled and monitored by our Quality Department.
The latest digitally controlled machines are used to deliver high quality mouldings.
We undertake routine air pressure, micro-organism and airborne particulate monitoring to ensure we always maintain first class standards.
Facilities are continually upgraded and each year we allocate a large investment to ensure best standards are always maintained and to look at expansion opportunities.
Injection moulding machines
We use the following injection moulding machines within our operations:
Sumitomo (Electric): 35T / 50T / 75T / 100T
Krauss Maffei: 50T / 80T / 110T / 150T / 300T
Battenfeld: 50T / 110T / 150T
Krauss Maffei: 350T – The largest injection moulding machine in a cleanroom in Europe.
Europlaz has two large warehouses available for storage of your product. Our value-added services mean we can store and distribute your product directly to the end user, cutting out additional and inefficient logistic and storage costs.
Engineering capabilities to keep up with expansion
Europlaz is a company led by engineers. All our tooling, injection moulding and engineering specialists are located at the same site as our manufacturing facilities. This is to ensure efficient communication and team work. At Europlaz you will always be able to speak directly to the person most relevant for your needs.
Having a representative prototype of your product at an early stage in the development process provides insight into design features, tactility, function and can eliminate costly errors encountered further in the design process. Europlaz can provide this to you through a full 3D printing service for the production of prototypes, fixtures, jigs and mock-ups.
We offer a full suite of materials that replicate materials from rubber through to metal and can offer extremely short lead-times. As this service is provided solely for our clients as part of our project services, you will benefit from the same expertise working on the 3D prints as those working on full scale production, giving the benefit of ensuring the 3D samples are compatible with planned future manufacturing methods.
Accurate measurement of components used to manufacture medical devices is critical in ensuring the function and compliance of the device.
Metrology services
To meet increased demand in inspection activities, Europlaz has a fully automatic Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), which complements the two existing machines used by the company. This machine offers full three dimensional inspection through both touch and vision sensors which enable complex measurements to be made quickly and easily.
The CMM measures with an accuracy down to 3 microns, or about 25 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair. This level of accuracy all but eliminates measurement error. Finally the new equipment is capable of producing full ISIR and Capability reports with its built in software.
Metrology services are provided by experienced staff using calibrated equipment traceable to NIST standards:
Programmable Contact/Non-Contact Measurements
Metrology Analysis and Reports
