Flowfusor Irrigation System
Already a satisfied customer, Fresenius Kabi knew who to contact when they decided to stop buying ready assembled components from the USA and design and manufacture their own parts with a trusted British company.
The Flowfusor Irrigation System is a piece of equipment that is used during an endoscopy, which is a procedure where the inside of a patient’s body is examined using an endoscope. An endoscope is a long, thin tube that has a light source and camera attached to the end, which is inserted into a cavity in the body. The images produced from this are then broadcast to a screen where a doctor is able to inspect for any symptoms.
Examples of endoscopic procedures are bronchoscopy, which examines the airways; hysteroscopy, which examines the womb; cystoscopy; which examines the bladder; and endoscopic ultrasounds, which examine and create images of internal organs to take tissue samples.
The Flowfusor Irrigation System is used by surgeons during endoscopic procedures.
The Solution
The Flowfusor Irrigation System is used by surgeons during cystoscopic procedures. The Flowfusor is inverted and the spike pierces the bottle, which in turn releases fluid to wash away impurities blocking the viewfinder of the endoscope. This allows surgeons operating the endoscope to properly interpret the information which they receive from the procedure, and diagnose their patients.
The Verdict
“Europlaz encouraged us to take an active role in the redesign and manufacture of the spike assembly and we felt that we were very much in control in the progress of our project.
Their innovative solution to a difficult technical challenge means that we can provide our customers with a better product.”
