Inside Our Unique Approach To Medical Device Manufacturing

At Europlaz, we pride ourselves on being more than just a medical device manufacturer. We are collaborators, problem-solvers, and, most importantly, partners in medical manufacturing and bringing medical devices to life.

Our journey through numerous projects has equipped us with a deep understanding of the intricacies involved in medical manufacturing, particularly in the development of medical products through the injection moulding process. But what truly sets us apart in the development of medical products and in particular, the injection moulding process?

Our highly experienced and knowledgeable technical team has seen first-hand how experience plays a vital role in the development of parts and devices for the medical device industry. This is evident in every facet, from planning and materials to providing updates on production, packaging, and regulation.

We’re going to look at how we work with a focus on the skills needed to complete a long-term design, development and injection moulding process.

Medical Manufacturing: Who We Work With

Firstly, we offer a wide range of services at Europlaz from design for manufacturing, to manufacturing to packaging and fulfilment. We usually work on the complete cycle, from design to production.

Plastic injection moulding for the medical device market is not just about producing parts; it’s about crafting solutions that are both effective and efficient.

The process of plastic injection moulding is a serial production on a commercial scale and as such is suited to long-term projects with a focus on the initial investment in tools, material choice and process. Our clients come to us to make use of our expertise in the design and manufacture of moulding tools, choice of plastics, and bespoke manufacture.

With this in mind, collaboration is at the core of what we do. Developing a medical device is a marathon, not a sprint, which involves our team conducting feasibility studies, working with clients on the proof of concept, and generally planning the process of production, including logistics, materials, packaging, and the like.

This personal approach has been highly successful for us with more than five decades in the industry and we are proud to boast that over 50% of our current customers have worked with us for 10 years or more. These lasting relationships are key to successful medical devices which rely heavily on trust, consistency, quality and cost-effective manufacturing.

How We Work With Clients in Medical Manufacturing

Our technical team commit to a complete service. This means from setup to rollout, we are there to streamline and bring everything under one roof. Doing so allows us to control every element of the project and reduce time and cost delays.

On a day-to-day basis, we are happy to work however clients would prefer, whether they want daily updates and feedback or regularly scheduled meetings, we are flexible and open to working their way.

We start every project by meeting with clients, understanding their needs and filling out any necessary paperwork such as NDAs. From there, our team will write up a proposal of the design process, costs, and expected timeframes.

Many of our clients also come to us to get our expertise in materials and production. The experience, knowledge and flexibility our team offers, often sets us apart from competitors.

Especially in plastic injection moulding for the medical device market. Plastic injection is only a small part of what we do but it is a complex process.

For example, our clients come to us with a wide range of needs.

If they need a certain rigidity or want a high gloss finish, perhaps a plastic that won’t react with liquids like blood (certain plastics leach into liquids for example), these are just a small sample of the type of considerations we help clients decide on in their development process.

Once everything is approved, we get to work on delivering a service that meets our client’s expectations and regulatory frameworks.

Trusted Local Services

Manufacturing medical devices with partners in the UK significantly shortens the supply chain, and provides clients with instant access to the entire chain should they wish to conduct quality checks, discuss any changes, or provide feedback.

One area we are particularly proud of is supplying clients with moulding tools made in the UK. We work with local toolmakers which gives us more flexibility and oversight of a project and ensures that any client investing in new moulding tools receives a product that will stand the test of time.

These pieces can be expensive to develop and we provide a warranty on each tool developed so that customers can be assured of their accuracy and consistency. By controlling this process locally, toolmaking is a known entity, and one where we can reduce development time and ultimately costs.

Along with toolmakers, 70% of our in-house team live locally which allows us to directly impact the local community and provide jobs in the area. This commitment to keeping services within the UK helps reduce timelines, allows for open communication, and gives us complete control over the project from start to finish.

What Does Working With Us Mean For You?

All this makes our approach unique. From using UK-based teams to providing expert guidance to managing fulfilment, quality assurance, and packaging, trusting your medical device development with Europlaz opens a realm of possibilities.

The technical team is experienced with all the needs of the medical device industry and are ready to help you realise your project and develop a solution together. For more details or to get started, please contact our team today.
