Europlaz has donated 25 life saving bleed kits to the Liam Taylor legacy in honour of a local 19 year old who tragically lost his life to knife crime in 2020.
Following his tragic death, The Liam Taylor Legacy was set up in his memory by his grandmother, Julie. The Legacy raises money to fund bleed control kits to be used to save lives across the country and beyond.
A member of the Europlaz team read Julie’s story and nominated The Liam Taylor Legacy for the company to support in 2024, alongside the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance. When we met Julie we were impressed with her tireless campaigning and fundraising efforts and at the same time moved by her heart-breaking story, we knew we had to offer our support.
Each kit costs £104 and contains gloves, scissors, foil blanket, mouthguard for giving CPR, trauma dressing, chest seal, pack bandage and tourniquet. The kits aren’t always just used for stab victims but also for any catastrophic bleeds.
Julie campaigns and fundraises so that the kits are absolutely everywhere. She believes that the bags shouldn’t be in places more than three minutes apart – because that’s how long it can take for someone to bleed to death. She hopes that these kits can save another family from going through what her family has – and are still going through.
What’s more, Julie now visits prisons to talk directly to prisoners who have been convicted of knife crime.
